Baleada Express is a Honduran restaurant tucked away in a modest strip near Oliver Court in Bluffton. This spot draws both locals and some devoted visitors from farther off — a testament to its niche appeal among fans of Central American comfort food. The atmosphere is straightforward and unpretentious, with a focus on hearty servings over upscale décor. The interior feels familiar to anyone who appreciates no-frills, home-style dining, though some wear and tear on tables hints at many meals shared here over the years.

What stands out most at Baleada Express is the sizeable portions of traditional Honduran dishes that aren't widely available in the area. The menu leans heavily on classics like the baleada itself, Honduran tacos, and stews enriched with coconut milk, such as seafood soup and the beefy sopa de res. Fried plantains accompany many plates, reinforcing the regional flavor profile. While some visitors note inconsistencies—like dryness in the tortillas or occasional blandness in rice dishes—many appreciate the generosity and authenticity of the food.

This restaurant is a good fit for those craving an earnest, flavor-forward experience rather than polished presentation. It’s particularly appealing for those who want to sample Honduran staples like chuleta de cerdo or churrasco, with natural juices like horchata or passion fruit adding a refreshing touch. The service can feel a bit brisk, which occasionally colors the takeout experience, but the staff generally manages to keep the kitchen humming along.

The best time to visit is likely during lunch or early dinner when the kitchen is in full swing and the crowd—composed mostly of locals and dedicated food explorers—enjoys a relaxed yet lively meal. You'll find Baleada Express suits both those looking to sit down for a casual meal and those grabbing takeout to bring a taste of Honduras home.

In a town with a growing interest in diverse culinary options, Baleada Express holds a place as a straightforward, hearty spot to connect with Honduran flavors, best appreciated with an appetite and an openness to rustic authenticity.

Nice restaurant. Very nice service. The food was a 50/50 I didn't like the baleada. The tortilla was dry and very little beans. The pastelitos were good. Nice sauce. Crispy.

The baleadas are great . The size and portions are equally great. I come here all the way from Savannah, Ga. for a good Honduran meal. They also have tajadas con pollo!! Huge serving I highly recommend the soup as well!!

Great customer service, the restaurant looks ok it could use a little hand is looking the same way since they first opened many yrs ago and tables are very scratched already. The food is great we had carne azada and it was delicious and very abundant loved that, also ordered an arroz con camarones to go but the rice flavor was ok nothing special you could only taste the salty flavor of soy but nothing else and the rice was overcooked , the shrimp did taste good tho but wouldn’t ordered it again I thought it was more of the honduran Chinese rice version but not at all. I also tried their pollo con tajadas and is really good definitely try it if you’re looking for a honduran typical dish you won’t regret!

The food here is delicious and I’ve always been a huge fan. My husband and I used to eat here all the time. However, this last time we got take out we got moldy cheese. to begin with the waitresses in the front make you feel like you are an inconvenience, like they are too busy to deal with you and on-top of that they charge gratuity for takeout orders which is fine but at least smile at the costumers. Anyways I called back to let them know that the cheese they gave me had mold. She then proceeded to say that it’s not true because they get fresh cheese everyday. I told them I can show them the cheese and she said well I didn’t charge extra for the cheese and abruptly hung up on me. Even though my food came with cheese on-top of it.

The service was warm and thoughtful. The food was delicious. They made us feel so welcome. We drove down from Canada for a vacation and this was definitely a highlight
